Labuan Bajo
Flores, East Nusa Tenggara
The harbour every Komodo charter leaves from, and a working town rather than a resort strip.

Cruising Grounds
The archipelago runs five thousand kilometres end to end. These are the grounds worth putting a phinisi on, and what each one is actually known for.

Our Ground
The Ocean Pro II sails from Labuan Bajo through Komodo National Park on two, three and four day charters. Everything below the fold is a ground we can talk you through, but Komodo is the water we know week in and week out.
Further Afield
These are the cruising grounds Indonesian phinisi work beyond Komodo. Ask us and we will tell you honestly what a charter there involves.

Flores, East Nusa Tenggara
The harbour every Komodo charter leaves from, and a working town rather than a resort strip.

Southwest Papua
Four main islands at the heart of the Coral Triangle, and the reason most divers come to Indonesia at all.

West Papua
Soft coral walls and karst islands, far enough east that you will rarely share an anchorage.

Papua
Indonesia's largest marine national park, known above all for its whale sharks.

Maluku
The Banda archipelago — nutmeg, forts, and volcanic reefs that drop away from the shoreline.

East Nusa Tenggara
Drift diving on serious current, on the crossing east from Flores.
Choosing
Komodo runs March to December. Grounds further east follow different windows — the season narrows your choice before anything else does.
Labuan Bajo is a short hop from Bali. Papua is a long day of connections before you board.
Two nights is enough for Komodo. The remote grounds only make sense with a week or more.
Dragons and ridge lines, or coral and current. Very few grounds do both well.

Tell us your dates and how long you have. We will say which ground fits — and tell you if it is not one of ours.
